JOB SUMMARY: Drives truck with capacity of more than 3 tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations.
SCOPE AND IMPACT:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Drives truck to destination. Prepares receipts for load picked up.
- Must maintain required Commercial License and abide by all Airgas and DOT regulations
- Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
- Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions. Loads and unloads truck.
- Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
- May perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains.
- Secures cargo prior to and during transit.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Must have a CDL Class A license with clean record
- Must be able to pass physical, MVR check and drug screen in accordance with DOT
- Must successfully pass all FMCSA background check requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers or associates.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with/or without hazardous material and tanker endorsements and no air brake limitation.

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift up to 60 pounds and move more than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and color vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Overnight travel may be required, depending on the delivery sites.
