About MMCA:

The Montana Motor Carriers Association has served as the voice for Montana's trucking industry since 1939. MMCA is a trade association dedicated to the furtherance of the trucking industry's goals and interests in Montana and the United States. Our membership is a very diverse group comprised of trucking companies, passenger carriers, garbage haulers, construction & excavation companies, and companies providing products and services to the industry.

Government Relations:

Montana Representation: MMCA's Executive Vice President serves as a lobbyist for the industry, keeping a close watch on issues affecting the bottom line for trucking companies.

Taxes, wage rates, hiring and firing restrictions, transportation regulations, and worker compensation restrictions can all affect profitability. MMCA keeps the lines of communication open with the state legislators, the statewide elected officials, the Department of Transportation, the Montana Highway Patrol, the Department of Motor Vehicles and any other agency or department with an influence on the industry.

An organization representing the entire industry provides more effective government influence than is possible as individuals. The strength of MMCA's efforts means you can focus on running your business and be confident that your interests are being represented in Helena. National Representation: MMCA is Montana's affiliate with the American Trucking Associations. This affiliation coupled with frequent and direct communication with the Montana Congressional Delegation ensures that the views of Montana's trucking industry are heard in Washington D.C.

Communication:

One of the primary services of the MMCA is to keep members informed about Late Breaking News/Legislative Updates in the industry. An electronic news sheet, "On The Horizon", is sent via email and fax to all MMCA members weekly. "MMCA News" is published monthly and "Roadwise Magazine" is published every August, in advance of the annual convention. MMCA distributes a frequent legislative update and also posts this information on the web site under "Current News". When an urgent matter arises, our e-mail and fax broadcast system gets the word out to all members.

MMCA maintains a web site, www.mttrucking.org to provide members with current information on the industry. The site is linked to a variety of governmental and privately maintained transportation sites and can be a valuable source of information for the networked company representative.
