About MMTA:
MMTA is a non-profit, member-driven trade organization that has been serving Maryland's commercial trucking industry since 1935. Today, MMTA is one of the largest trucking associations in the country, representing over 1,000 member companies.
Through the collective strength of its members, MMTA has
developed effective programs that: keep our members' operating
costs down; influence legislative and regulatory decisions in
Annapolis and Washington; and keep our members up-to-date on the
many regulations affecting commercial motor transportation.
Maryland's trucking industry is diverse, and so is MMTA's
membership. Whether your trucks are for-hire or not-for-hire; if
you're a mover or an intermodal drayage carrier; from delivery
trucks to dry vans, tank trucks to dump trucks, industry suppliers
to owner-operators—MMTA
represents the entire industry, and gives a strong voice to each
segment.
MMTA: Information Services:
1.Regulatory Assistance - Have a question about drug and alcohol
testing, fuel taxes, a questionable citation, size and weight laws,
driver qualification, or any other issue that affects commercial
trucks? MMTA's Help Line is just a phone call away.
2.MMTA members have free, unlimited access to professional staff
that can answer all of their questions. And since MMTA is
affiliated with the American Trucking Associations, we have access
to hundreds of professionals who specialize in various aspects of
trucking operations, in every state of the country. Membership in
MMTA gives you access to the best minds in the trucking
industry!
3.Communications - MMTA's monthly newsletter, the MMTA Bulletin, is
jam-packed with informative articles on regulatory and management
issues that affect our members. This exclusive member benefit will
soon also be published online. We also publish a quarterly,
full-color magazine and an annual Membership Directory &
Buyers' Guide. MMTA Online, our website, contains special features
and information.
4.Safety - MMTA takes highway safety seriously. Each year, our
Safety Management Council sponsors the Maryland Safe Truck Driving
Championships and the Drivers of the Month/Driver of the Year
program.
5.Members of MMTA can invite professional MMTA staff to their
facilities for safety auditing, to make sure they are in compliance
with the law. This incredibly low-cost service is available for
members only.
