About ITA:

ITA is a trade organization dedicated to enhancing the effectiveness of its member companies by advocating sound public policies, providing excellence in education, training and information while promoting a safe, dependable and cost effective transportation system.

Celebrating our 75th year as the “Voice of Trucking in Illinois”, the Illinois Trucking Association consisted of hundreds of dedicated trucking companies and Allied Members who support our valued industry. ITA is the ONLY Illinois affiliate of the American Trucking Association. As a result we bring with us experience of all other State Trucking Associations into one united team. Illinois Trucking Association provides you a lobbying voice in Springfield PLUS a whole array of services to help manage the impact of change within our industry. We team with other industry leaders to provide educational opportunities and member discounts.

ITA acts as liaison between state agencies and local governments throughout Illinois on behalf of the trucking industry. ITA is contacted several hundred times a month. We are happy to research and answer questions on compliance, legislation or intervene on your behalf with federal, state and local governmental and enforcement agencies for whatever the problem may be.

Mission of ITA:

ITA is committed to articulating the concerns of the trucking industry to governmental, regulatory bodies and the general public.

ITA further pledges to assist member companies in managing the impact of change in the trucking profession and to enhance the professional and economic growth of our members.

During the past year ITA has played a critical role in supporting our industry. The follow are a few examples:

• Work with the Department of Revenue to reduce the Commercial Distribution Fee by 40% effective July 1, 2005 and an additional 20% July 1, 2006.
• Represented the industry by securing $100,000,000 savings over four years with the Illinois Toll Highway Authority through I-Pass savings.
• ITA plays a critical role as the Illinois administrator of the Highway Watch Program, which has led the nation in trained HWW participants.
• ITA is the Illinois sponsor of the Illinois Truck Driving Championships.
• ITA provides educational opportunities through our joint ITA/Nextel Educational Series.
• Seminars in Drug and Alcohol Probably Suspicion.
• Drug and Alcohol testing through the USIS/DAC Services
