About HTA:
The Hawaii Transportation Association (HTA), founded in 1938 and incorporated in 1963, is a private, non-profit trade organization dedicated to the service and assistance to the ground transportation industry in the State of Hawaii.
HTA is made up of approximately 350 regulated carrier, private carrier, and allied industry members. The association serves as a central source of information by conducting research and education programs for its members. It also represents the industry's interests before county, state and federal agencies as well as county councils, the state legislature and Congress.
Membership Benefits:
Taxes, Laws, Rules & Regulations
HTA watchdogs transportation and business legislation at the Federal, State, and County levels. We participate in the formulation of safety and economic regulations at all levels. We are involved with public issues to work out concerns before they have to become laws and regulations -- and we inform our members of these developments.
Information
HTA prints a weekly newsletter with timely information on vital transportation issues. We also have a biannual magazine published by Naylor Publications. We organize an annual convention which features new equipment and developments for the transportation industry.
Safety
HTA's Safety Department is lauded for its regular programs for drivers and supervisors including; Driver Improvement Program, road evaluation, vehicle inspection, hazardous materials, and forklift training. Discounted prices are available for members.
The department covers transportation issues with seminars addressing; accident investigation, driver recruitment/retention, training trainers, drug and alcohol testing, etc.
The department helps HTA members comply with safety requirements with complimentary file audits, and by having safety compliance forms for sale.
Economics
HTA's Research Department analyzes and publishes industry economic, financial, and statistical data. Testimony is made before the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) on rate cases and regulatory issues.
The department offers PUC annual financial report services, and provides information on PUC related matters.
Group Programs
HTA offers its members health plans, drug & alcohol testing plans and employee benefit plans.
Also available are discount theater tickets and Disney Magic Kingdom Club cards.
