About CTA:
In 2004 the California Trucking Association enters its 70th year of serving the businesses that operate trucks in California and the companies that provide products and services to those companies. Our members transport 85% of the shipments that travel on California's highways each day. Our membership ranges from the self-employed owner-operator, to the one-person consulting firm, to the large international motor carriers and truck manufacturers and everything in between.
Since 1934, CTA has provided membership exclusive benefits that advance the long-term sustainable profitability of our motor carriers and suppliers. Those benefits include legislative and regulatory representation, advocacy, training, education, buying programs, public relations, image enhancement, trade shows, expositions, workshops, networking, and leadership development.
Covering the state with 13 regional Units (Chapters), and 13 specific industry specialty conferences that develop policy for Intermodal Drayage, Agriculture, Heavy Specialized, Bulk Carriers, General Freight, Multi State, International Border Crossing, Waste Haulers, Petroleum Tank Truck, Refrigerated Carriers, Heavy-duty Tow and Hay & Forest Products. Our five Policy Committees address legislative and regulatory activities including that impact Truck Safety, Highway Policy and the Environment. CTA's Membership Services Policy Committee is working through the Worker's Compensation crisis and evaluates insurance issues with regard to policy and reduced pricing for all our members, large, medium or small. The Kingpin Policy Committee is our political front line. Members are trained and dispatched to speak with their elected officials regarding key policy issues.
CTA arrives at its decisions through open debate and democratic voting. Every member, large or small, has one vote. The member exercises his or her vote at their Unit meetings, their Conferences and their Policy Committees. If elected to the Board or Executive Committee, the member participates in the direct governing body of the association.
CTA has committed to high service, high benefit and a high value association. The members want top quality results from CTA in all our programs, and this includes the business programs as well as the legislative and regulatory activities. The membership receives top quality results through an outstanding network of volunteers, endorsed program partners and a professional and highly trained staff.
We encourage you to become a member of the association. You will
gain your dues back through the savings you enjoy in the endorsed
programs. The opportunity to meet and work with your peers towards
the goal of a safer, more profitable trucking industry will provide
you with leadership skills that you can use in your own business.
We need you to help guide this great association to a better future
for California trucking.
