Sunnyvale, TX –– On Dec. 2, 2005, Gulf Coast Transport acquired the Dallas/Forth Worth regional fleet of Southwest Transportation. Southwest Transportation is now a division of Gulf Coast Transport operating primarily in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas.
Southwest Transportation is based in Fort Worth, TX and is a $5 million yearly revenue dry freight carrier with 30 tractors. Gulf Coast Transport will immediately inject 50 trailers along with state of the art technology to assist the operations of the Southwest Transportation regional fleet. This new Gulf Coast Transport regional fleet will continue to operate from the former Southwest Transportation terminal in Fort Worth.
In addition to the acquisition of Southwest Transportation, Gulf Coast Transport has begun construction of a new maintenance facility. The additional capability created by the new maintenance facility will complement the significant additional acreage of the trailer yard that was opened earlier in the fall. Once the maintenance department moves into the new building, the vacated area will be remodeled. The remodeling project will create additional office space for various departments including enhanced comfort related facilities for the drivers.
All of this activity is a result of the stable, successful, financial growth and health of Gulf Coast Transport, Inc. Gulf Coast Transport, a 48-state carrier, was founded in 1988 by Steve Wooten and is now the largest Dallas/Fort Worth based Dry Van Carrier.
