Sapulpa, OK (November 14, 2005) -- For the second year in a row John Christner Trucking sponsored a booth featuring one of the company’s trucks at the Tulsa State Fair of Okla., where more than 935,000 people attended.
“Many had never seen the inside of a big semi,” says Betsy Waldrop of JCT. “It surprised us that it was more the men ages 30-55 that would set behind the wheel and pretend to drive, making truck sound effects than the children!”
According to Waldrop, being at the fair gives the general public a glimpse into the world of truck driving. “Both old and young were fascinated with the tractor and how a driver would work and sleep in the vehicle,” she said. “We allowed them to climb in the tractor, set on the bunk, get behind the wheel etc.”
JCT gave away over 10,000 wristbands to adults and began its first annual coloring contest. Coloring sheets were given to all children who stopped by the booth. JCT personnel were on hand to vote for the best picture. Kaylee Arment, 5, took first place out of the numerous entries and was awarded a $10 gift certificate to Wal-Mart. Kaylee is a kindergartener at Wyandotte Elementary.
