TMI-MultiMedia’s December Trucker Buddy of the Month

Waupaca, WI: Jimmy Frost is not your typical web designer, but he’s not your typical truck driver, either. Jimmy Frost is a Trucker Buddy, who shares his over the road experiences with his students through his website, www.asphaltadventures.com.

Jimmy complements Teacher Jewell Schaefer’s curriculum by adding links to his site that correspond with the studies of his third grade class at B.C. Charles Elementary in Newport News, Virginia. Ms. Schaefer said, “He has been invaluable to me as a teacher because he finds websites for the students to go to in order for them to study the material more closely on their own.”

In addition to his website, Jimmy sends the children post cards from the road, and brings books, t-shirts, posters and other items for the class when he and his cat, Zoey, visit the school. The students in Ms. Schaefer’s class appreciate Jimmy’s visits. They especially enjoyed the pizza party, but they nominated him as Trucker Buddy of the month so that they can help him spend the prize money, as Tuteyonna said, “He might want to spend it on us.”

Jimmy is a company driver for Crete Carriers, and lives in Virginia Beach Virginia. He is one of nearly 4,000 professional drivers share their time with elementary classes throughout the world. The only criteria to be a Trucker Buddy is to be a truck driver, willing to send a post card each week to a class in grades two through eight. Drivers can apply by calling 1-800-MY BUDDY. There are currently many classes still waiting for a Trucker Buddy for this school year.

Jimmy will receive a personalized jacket, along with a check for $300 to spend on the class and $200 in Trucker Buddy merchandise, compliments of TMI-MultiMedia (www.tmi-multimedia.com), the advertising agency of choice for the trucking industry. He will be given a copy of “For the Long Haul” by Donde Publishing and an Accident Photo Pak. The class will receive a CrossCountry USA game from Ingenuity Works (www.ingenuityworks.com), which will help them learn more about how trucks move freight across the nation.

Trucker Buddy is dependent on corporate sponsors such as TMI-MultiMedia to fund the program. Major contributors include Platinum level: MANCOMM, Transcore and ProTrucker & Over the Road magazines, Gold Level Sponsors: American Trucking Association, American Graphics Group, Delphi, Kenworth, Midnight Trucking Radio, Truckin’ Bozo, Mike Ryan Motorsports and Wal-mart, along with Silver Level: ArvinMeritor, Detroit Diesel, OTR-Canada and Riggs & Recruits, .
