Schneider National Announces New Driver And Owner Operator Pay Package

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Nov. 20, 2004 – Schneider National Inc., a premium transportation and logistics services provider and North America’s largest truckload carrier, today announced it is introducing a new driver pay package that will take effect on Feb. 1, 2004. The new pay package will include increases in mileage and accessorial pay for Schneider National company drivers and owner-operators.

The pay changes are consistent with Schneider National’s commitment to retain and recruit the best drivers and owner-operators. The average annual pay increase for Schneider National company drivers is between $1,500 and $2,500 per year for solo drivers and between $3,500 and $4,500 per year for team drivers, depending on experience levels. Solo owner-operators will receive an increase in annual compensation of $2,500 to $3,500 while team owner-operators will receive $3,500 to $4,500 more annually. Drivers also will benefit from accessorial, or non-driving, pay increases.

Schneider National has one of the largest freight bases in the industry, providing drivers and owner operators consistent, maximum miles year-round in its Van, Dedicated, Expedited, Bulk or Specialized divisions. Schneider National also offers a comprehensive, company-paid training program that is recognized as one of the best in the industry for its commitment to operating safety and performance.

Schneider National regularly reviews its compensation and benefits package for drivers. Changes and enhancements have also been made to the drivers benefits plan. “Schneider National’s drivers and owner-operators are our company’s greatest assets,” said Scott Arves, president of transportation for Schneider National Inc. “This new pay package is meant to show our support and appreciation for the important work company drivers and owner-operators perform on behalf of our customers each day.”

Schneider National has more than 15,000 drivers and owner-operators serving North America. The company plans to add an additional 1,000 drivers and owner-operators in 2004 to service its extensive customer base.
