Joplin Based Trucking Company Receives Community Leadership Awards

JOPLIN, MO—Joplin-based Sitton Motor Lines was recognized as a leader in Community Safety Education Thursday, October 26 at the Alliance of Southwest Missouri Awards Banquet. The company received the “OUTSTANDING PARTNER IN COMMUNITY CHANGE,” for their Public Safety Education Program. The No Zone Truck travels throughout Missouri and the surrounding states teaching young drivers to share the road with commercial vehicles. Director of Recruiting, Bill Housley, accepted the prestigious award on behalf of the company. The individual who received the award for “Making the Most Difference” in the Southwest Missouri Region was also a Sitton Motor Lines associate, Laszlo T. Laky, the Public Safety Education Coordinator.

Sitton Motor Lines Public Safety Education presented the driver safety message to over 23,870 students in a 12 month period starting September 1, 2005. The presentation begins with a grim reminder of the fragile nature of human life and includes videos and reminders of area collisions and then rolls forward with a positive message about “Sharing the Road” with all vehicles and attentive driving. Sitton Motor Lines is also a partner with the Coalition for Safer Missouri Roadways, a group consisting of transportation professionals and interested citizens who meet and implement programs and events to educate the public on buckling up to bring the annual fatality rate in Missouri below 1,000 by the year 2008. In fact, at the November 2006 annual Blue Print for Safer Missouri Roadways conference, Sitton Motor Lines is slated to receive a similar award from the Missouri Department of Transportation and the United States Department of Transportation.
