Jay Graves: Family Man Finds a Second Family with FFE
Jay Graves has been driving for FFE since 2002, and has come to consider the company as part of his family. “It is all about relationships with FFE,” Graves said. “Everyone at FFE, including the people at the very top, has stayed behind me through hard times. And now that I bought a new truck from them, I guess they are stuck with me for awhile!”
Graves, a 15-year driving veteran, got into the business after he gave up everything to do his part with local charities. A friend encouraged Graves to start a career in trucking so he could reach more people across the country. After he took his story to a local radio station, they agreed to pay for his driving school tuition.
Graves is now one of FFE’s many lease purchase success stories. “FFE gave me a break when they let me come on board and lease a truck for very little money down,” Graves said. “They knew I was a hard worker, and now they consider me family too.” When Graves had some mechanical trouble with his first truck, the company helped him out by providing him with a short-term loan to help pay off the repairs. Recently, he leased a brand new truck with FFE.
As the father of five young children, it is no surprise that family is so important to Graves. When not out on the road, he enjoys spending time with his kids, ages four to 14, and taking them to theme parks. He recently decided to purchase some horses, and enjoys riding horses with friends in his spare time. Another of Graves’ passions is his volunteer work, building houses for Habitat for Humanity, and building playgrounds for kids in his community.
Though Graves admits that, at times, driving at truck “is not all flowers,” he stresses that the relationships he has with the people at FFE make the hard times go a bit smoother. “All the people at FFE are dedicated, kind and generous,” he said. “And now with their new lease purchase program, the world is wide open.”
FFE Clean Slate Lease program offers drivers the opportunity to own a truck with no money down and the added benefit of a business support system. Credit isn’t an issue as long as drivers have a clean DAC and MVR. New drivers to the company can also enjoy a soft landing by taking advantage of FFE’s Fresh Start Program. In this program, drivers are eligible for a waiver of certain fixed costs during their first four weeks and a $150.0 fuel credit for the first two weeks. Even better, successful lease contractors are rewarded with the option of new trucks complete with an APU.
FFE is seeking company drivers and owner operators who have a good work ethic and like to earn good money. Owner Operators average $1.11 per mile and receive an annual incentive at the end of their first year. Plus FFE has just introduced a new mileage contract that gives Owner Operators the best of both worlds at .93 cpm for truckload shipments and an even higher rate for hauling those special FFE LTL shipments. It just can’t get any better! Call FFE at 1-800-569-9298 to find out more.
