Marten Transport drivers among finalists for Driver of the Year

MONDOVI, Wis. – Marten Transport, Ltd. is pleased to announce that three of its company drivers have been named finalists for the 2005 Driver of the Year Award, sponsored by the Truckload Carriers Association and Trucker’s News Magazine. These drivers are Barry Nauman, of Marshall, Minn., Tim Setterlund, of Arkansaw, Wis., and Dale Henderson, of Rice Lake, Wis.

Driver of the Year is a prestigious distinction given annually to a driver of company-owned equipment based on outstanding safety records, history and longevity with their company, and long-standing community involvement. A total of 25 individuals from hundreds of nominees are selected as finalists. The group will be narrowed to five winners by a panel of independent judges and announced during the TCA’s convention in Orlando, Fla., March 12-15.

Setterlund has been with Marten Transport for nearly a quarter century. During his tenure with the company, he has accumulated more than two-million, accident-free over the road miles. Nauman has been with Marten Transport for 18 years. Like Setterlund, he too has driven more than two-million miles without an accident. Henderson, who recently was hired as Marten’s Driver Safety Training Coordinator, has accumulated more than a million, accident-free miles since joining the Western Wisconsin-based carrier in 1995.

“We are extremely proud of our drivers,” said Bob Smith, Marten’s Chief Operating Officer. “The fact that we have three individuals among the top 25 says a great deal about the quality, commitment to safety and outstanding performance we’ve come to expect from our people at Marten.”

Marten Transport Ltd. was founded in 1946 as a small dairy transportation service. Today the company hauls freight across the United States and Canada for some of the most successful companies in the world.
