Melton Truck Lines Opens Birmingham Terminal

TULSA, Okla- Melton Truck Lines, Inc. is excited to announce the opening of its fifth terminal in Birmingham, AL. The new facility spans over 4,600 square feet and signifies the completion of Phase I of Melton’s Birmingham facility. “Opening of the Birmingham terminal marks the completion of Phase I of Melton's three-phase construction plan for the Birmingham location,” states Melton President Bob Peterson. “Over the next four years, Melton will construct a 10,000 square foot full-service maintenance facility and a 5,000 square foot driver recruitment and training building. We are committed to developing quality flatbed service in the southeast.”

Birmingham was the logical choice for Melton’s new terminal because of its easy accessibility to customers in the southeast region. Conveniently located in the Daniel Payne Industrial Park, the terminal is one mile from Interstate 65 and only five minutes from Interstate 20. The terminal sits on a vast 15 acres and contains plenty of office space, as well as a large truck and trailer parking area. The driver lounge boasts of all new amenities including a TV room with plush recliners, free, self-service laundry, computers with high-speed internet access, vending services, ATM, and shower facilities.

In this prime location, Melton has staff in place and Driver Orientation is slated to begin in October. John Talley will lead Driver Orientation. Talley is a former Melton driver and first-rate instructor. New drivers will now be able to choose between three orientation locations: Tulsa, OK; Dallas, TX; and Birmingham, AL. Angie Buchanan, Director of Human Resources, says, “These three locations will allow new Melton recruits to have shorter travel time to orientation. The five terminal locations in key traffic lanes, will make it easier for drivers to get home.”

Santana Anaya will be moving from Melton’s corporate offices in Tulsa, OK to oversee Operations. In Tulsa, Anaya worked in Melton’s Safety Department. He has been in the transportation industry for many years and owned his own trucking company. Anaya will bring diverse experience and industry knowledge to the Birmingham office.

In the trucking industry, Birmingham is known as a “flatbed town” because of the rapidly growing roofing and building supply industry. Now, Melton Truck Lines can be an integral part of the Birmingham flatbed industry.
