Tammy Failor
Carlisle permits
Congratulations to Tammy Failor, our spotlight employee for the third quarter of 2004. Tammy works in our Permit Department in Carlisle, she began her employment with us in March of 1990. Since that time, the department and the demands placed upon it, have increased significantly.
“Back in the day” when Tammy started, most permits were ordered through a permit service and the fax machines buzzed constantly. Not that the faxes still aren’t humming, but many permits are now ordered directly from the individual states (this year we will order over 50,000 individual permits) through the internet.
Tammy does an excellent job in all aspects of permitting including; ordering permits for our “super-loads,” working our “hot box,” (a position dedicated exclusively to solving permit problems quickly) and maintaining our blanket and annual permit programs (over 700 individual permits). Her knowledge and experience provides an additional check as permit loads are preplanned and dispatched by operations, ensuring that dimensions and weights are correct and that the proper equipment for the load has been assigned.
This saves money as permit revisions and re-orders are minimized. The relationships she has established with state offices is highly valued not only by Keen, but by the individual state offices as well. They recognize that our applications are complete and accurate and that speeds the issue process and keeps the fleet rolling.
Tammy resides locally and when not ordering permits, her and her
spouse Ross are busy parenting two young sons. We appreciate the
smile and the positive attitude that Tammy brings to the job-
thanks Tammy for a job well done!
Dan Williams
Regional Driver
Dan Williams has been selected as our spotlight driver for the third quarter. Dan resides in Severna Park MD, and has been with Keen since August of 1996. We are delighted that Dan has chosen Keen Transport to complete his driving career, not that he is “coasting” toward retirement! Some years ago, the company decided to dedicate some drivers to transport trailers to facilities to better utilize and balance equipment throughout our system. Due to Dan’s efforts, the balance of equipment has dramatically improved.
This has improved efficiency and saved our fleet drivers many miles by having the right trailer for their dispatch, at the right location. This has also allowed an increase in our number of pre-loads and helps insure that blocking and other maintenance items are distributed to all of our sites.
Our fleet drivers appreciate knowing that Dan is bringing in their trailer- he is always on time – and always willing to assist his co-workers so that they can meet their schedule. He is a welcome sight at all our facilities as well as at customer sites; willing to share his experience with new drivers and to help them as they learn the Keen system.
You can always count on Dan for a joke, or to otherwise lighten your day- his professional approach and friendly demeanor are contagious, you always feel good after having talked with Dan. For many years, Dan was a “trucker buddy” sharing his experiences with elementary students, who knows, maybe the next generation of drivers.
Thanks Dan for all you do for Keen and for setting the benchmark
for others to follow by displaying your dedication to your job,
your excellent attitude toward safety, and in the professional way
you deal with customers and co-workers.
