Roehl and Groendyke Select TRANSFLO ExpressSM
Truck Stop Scanning from Pegasus TransTech Carriers cite ability to control costs, pay drivers faster and enhance customer service
November 4, 2003 – Tampa, FL – Roehl Transport, Inc. and Groendyke
Transport, Inc. have selected Pegasus TransTech's TRANSFLO Express truck stop
scanning service.
Wisconsin-based Roehl Transport—a Transport Topics Top 100 fleet—focused on the financial implications of document delivery in its evaluation of TRANSFLO Express.
"In this business, it's critical to manage indirect costs very tightly," explained Steve Wykle, Roehl's vice president of finance. "When we looked at TRANSFLO Express, our decision came down to whether we could save money doing it. Today, we're billing customers faster and driving down our costs. We've been surprised at how much positive feedback we've gotten from people in our payroll, billing and imaging departments about how easy it is to keep up. The documents come in on a much more level basis."
TRANSFLO Express has also enabled Roehl to pay its drivers faster.
"This has been a service improvement to drivers in terms of providing them with more control of their paperwork and being able to pay them faster," Wykle said. "We changed our payroll cycle to give them a bigger window. With TRANSFLO Express, our drivers are getting paid probably four to six days sooner on the loads they deliver."
Added Wykle, “TRANSFLO Express is a rare solution in that it provides distinct benefits for both drivers and customers, while reducing costs for the business.”
Groendyke Seeks to Control Costs and Further Enhance Customer Service
Leaders at Groendyke Transport say TRANSFLO Express is the latest step in a Pegasus TransTech solution for controlling costs, streamlining payroll and billing processes, and positioning the company to grow without adding headcount. Groendyke implemented Pegasus' TRANSFLO in-house system in August, and is also in the process of deploying TRANSFLO Express truck stop scanning.
"So many of our customers have specialized needs as far as what documentation they require with invoices," explained Dan Buckley, vice president of administrative services and CIO for Groendyke. "We're implementing TRANSFLO Express truck stop and terminal scanning, as well as the TRANSFLO imaging and workflow system, primarily to reduce the amount of manual labor required to process invoicing."
Buckley added that the opportunity to improve customer service was also a primary reason behind Groendyke's decision to work with Pegasus TransTech. TRANSFLO and TRANSFLO Express will expedite Groendyke's ability to provide customers with critical documents, including online access to proof-of-delivery documents.
"Groendyke's specialty has always been customer service, both in terms of our safety record and our on-time performance. TRANSFLO and TRANSFLO Express are enhancements to our ability to deliver value to our customers," Buckley said.
According to Henry King, Groendyke's director of administration, Groendyke has already begun to see results from Pegasus' solution.
"In the last month, we've billed some record days both in revenue and in the number of loads billed without adding any headcount or paying any overtime," King said.
TRANSFLO Express is a service provided by Pegasus TransTech at participating truck stops nationwide. Drivers simply hand their documents to a fuel desk attendant for scanning. In seconds, these documents are delivered electronically to the fleet for immediate billing and payroll processing. Drivers keep the original documents. All fleets, regardless of size, can receive their trip documents via TRANSFLO Express.
