Military Support takes to the highways at JDC Logistics
Franklin, WI. October 15th, 2003. Corporate headquarters to JDC Logistics and Stars Expedited hosted a trailer dedication event on behalf of the United States Marine Corps “ 1000 Truck Celebration”.
Mike Page, Director of Recruiting was happy to announce, “We are proud of our Country, our Heritage and our Military and support the efforts of our United States Marines”. Page went on to explain that the US Marines contacted Dave Walters and Tim Young both Corporate Managers at JDC & Stars and asked if they would lend support by allowing the Marines to place recruitment graphics on several trailers. The Marines indicated that they are attempting to increase awareness to those young Americans who would like to serve in the military, more especially the United States Marines. Dave and Tim contacted Mike Page, and the rest is history.
From local, county and State elected officials, to a parade sponsored by the Franklin community, it was an event befitting our fine men and women that make up our military forces. As bagpipers played “Scotland The Brave” the Franklin Police and Fire Departments escorted the trucks to the dedication site. “The Marines asked if we would donate the use of a few trailers, we gave them 100 brand new Great Dane trailers as they arrived at Trudell in Milwaukee, WI “ Page added.
On hand for the dedication was Retired US Army Col. Robert Roth. Roth is the Outreach Chair of the ESGR Employer Support Guard & Reserve. Robert presented JDC & Stars, but more especially President & Executive Vice President Jeff and Jay Lorino with an ESGR award directly from the Department of Defense. From the Grand Master of Masons to Tripoli Shriners and the Franklin Community, all shared in the spirit of America which has made our country great. As a decorated veteran of the US Army, Page explained how he met his first Marines during Operation Urgent Fury as a member of the 82nd Airborne MP Division serving in Grenada.
“ I am so proud of this day and the support of not only our company, but our community as a whole” Page added. As if things could not get better, word from Page’s office raced around the corporate headquarters as a phone call from The White House was received. As you travel down the nations highways and you see these special trailers, take a moment to reflect on those who serve, those who gave all, and how special it is to be an American. We live in the greatest free country in the world and JDC & Stars are giving a little extra to help keep it that way.
