Tri-State Participates in World’s Largest Truck Convoy

Tri-State Motor Transit recently participated in the World’s Largest Truck Convoy, which raises money for the Special Olympics. The event, held September 16, marked the fourth year that the company has participated.
It all began when a Tri-State team, Mike and Dorris Loftin, asked if they could participate. Tri-State donated the money for their truck to run in the convoy and has been participating as a Silver Sponsor with ten trucks in the convoy ever since.

This year, Tri-State received special recognition, as they were the company with the most trucks taking part in the Joplin, Missouri area. Officials at Tri-State said they are already planning for next year.

“We have a standing commitment to be part of the convoy,” said David Ransom, driver manager and head organizer for the convoy. “We already have drivers signed up for next year and one team is going to bid to be the lead truck.”

Drivers are already gearing up as well. “I will be part of this from now on,” said Ray Parker, a Tri-State company driver who participated for the second year.

“It is such a neat experience and Special Olympics does so much for children and adults with disabilities,” he said.
