Tyson Foods Partners with the Crew Chief Club to Sponsor Pit Crew Championship:
Tyson Foods, Inc. will proudly 'power' the pit crews behind stock car drivers with the creation of the 2005 “National Pit Crew Championship Powered by Tyson. Additionally, Tyson will sponsor the 2005 'National Motorsports Team of the Year,' culminating in a year-end awards ceremony that recognizes pit crews and teams and awards up to a half million dollars. 30 Cup and 10 Busch teams have been invited to participate in the 2005 "National Pit Crew Championship Powered by Tyson." Pit crews will compete against each other for the fastest pit stop at the event. The competition will take place at the Pit Instruction and Training (PIT) facility in Mooresville, North Carolina on May 9, 2005. The event will air on the SPEED Channel.
The 2005 National Motorsports Team of the Year Powered by Tyson is a season long contest with voting and rankings to determine the 2005 National Motorsports Team. The winning team will be chosen by Cup Crew Chiefs and other motorsports personalities, with additional votes coming from fans and Tyson team members. Tyson recently unveiled a $75 million fully integrated, multi-channel marketing communications campaign with the tagline, "Powered by Tyson" From extensive consumer research, a truth emerged: protein=energy=power. Tyson's new strategy recognizes the company's position as the premiere provider of protein by pointing to the role meat protein plays in the diet.

I also wanted to send you the latest news and developments for the program. Below are two press releases that are great news for the program. The first is that Wal-Mart Stores and Tyson Foods Inc. have joined the SmartWay Transport Partnership. EPA Administrator Leavitt recognized both corporations in Arkansas on October 4, 2004. Tyson said it is already implementing some procedures outlined under the SWTP program, including installing idling monitors and streamlining tractors to make them more aerodynamic. Tyson is also shipping more product through railroads.
