Quest Global, Inc., The Best Company for Teams in the Industry
With a fleet compliment of forty-nine late model Freightliner trucks – each equipped with the latest satellite system technology -- and sixty-nine refrigerated trucking trailers, Quest Global, Inc. is, hands down, an industry leader in attracting and keeping the best driver teams on the road.
“I started in this when I was about sixteen”, says Quest Vice President Jason Dickerson. “When I was twenty two, we [Jason, along with his brother Jeremy – President of Quest] bought out another trucking company in 1998 – they had ten trucks and ten trailers.” Today, Quest Global, Inc. is an industry leader, offering one of the most comprehensive and competitive incentive and benefit packages on the road today.
Quest’s company teams are afforded top-rate incentives to include:
- Company-paid medical, dental, and life insurance after the first year
- An incentive offered by only 2% to 3% of the industry.
- $4,000 team sign-on bonus
- Satellite-dispatched, late-model Freightliner fleet
- All trucks are 36 months or newer.
- 99.7% no-wait dispatch on the return load
- Guaranteed 22k miles per month
- Much more
Other factors help to set Quest above the pack as well. Jason adds, “All of our teams average between 23k and 25k miles per month. Our average length of haul is 2,300 miles; that puts us in the top four percentile. We’re also in the top three percentile of miles run per month. We accomplish this because seventy percent of all our freight is drop and hook.”
Jason and Jeremy place a heavy emphasis on both operational efficiency and driver satisfaction. Concerning driver satisfaction, Jason explains, “We try to go against the grain as far as the benefits we offer. We generally try to pay teams more than the industry standard. Even when unemployment is high, and companies are able to keep their drivers on the road for much lower pay, we don’t go that route; instead, we believe in paying more so that our teams are happy and glad to stay on with us.”
Driver incentives don’t stop there at Quest. They also give away two Chevrolet Silverado pick-up trucks each year to their top-performing teams. And if that wasn’t enough, Jason adds, “We’re entertaining the idea next year of giving away a couple of Harley Davidsons in addition to the trucks.”
Quest is also well known for its quality assignments. In fact, Quest Global is the largest trucking company – in terms of both size and volume – utilized by The Kroger Company, who is currently the nations largest grocery store chain, in its coast-to-coast distribution. “We bring in 81% of their produce from the west coast to the Atlanta distribution center,” Jason shares.
Quest’s strong incentive package is met with a solid, well-balanced work ethic as well. Jason plainly states, “Many teams are accustomed to being with companies that average fifteen to seventeen thousand miles per month. That’s not even close to what we run here. The teams that run with us are expected to put in a good day’s work; they’re serious about their job and consistently drive twenty three to twenty five thousand miles per month.”
Of the challenges faced by the industry such as increased fuel prices, Jason answers, “For companies such as Quest that run efficiently and work hard towards customer service, we’re able to hold our course.” Of the technological advances enjoyed by the industry, he notes, “The satellite system technology is one of the greatest things to ever come along. Through it we can send directions, telephone numbers, you name it. Only seven or eight years ago, it would take about thirty minutes to dispatch three trucks. Now, in that same thirty minutes, we can dispatch fourteen or fifteen trucks – it’s mostly point and click. Now our customers can log onto our website and track their loads in real time. You can’t do that with paper and a cell phone.”
Quest Global isn’t stopping there. They’re planning for even greater growth and expansion in the near future. Jason tells us, “We’ll be adding an additional twenty trucks to our fleet in the spring of next year. We’re also building a new centrally-located, twenty nine thousand square foot shop and office facility just north of Cartersville, Georgia to better service our customers.”
Efficiency, Customer Service, Driver Satisfaction – the formula for success at Quest.
