TMI MultiMedia's November 2002 Trucker Buddy of the Month

Waupaca, WI: �John brings us treats to eat and smiles that last a mile,� writes Trucker Buddy John¹s teacher, Eileen Peters. �John has been so good to us, he writes us post cards three or four times a month,� she added, �(and) he brings us presents.�

November's �Trucker Buddy� of the month, John Conway, is an owner operator leased to Werhane Enterprises in Lena, Illinois. John has been in the Trucker Buddy program for four years, and currently writes to five different classes.

John takes the time to visit his Ms. Peter's third grade class in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin in addition to his other Trucker Buddy classes in the Midwest. When John takes his blue Peterbilt to the school, the children are thrilled to be able to see the inside of his rig and to hear his stories about the loads he delivers and the places he visits. He once rode his Harley Davidson motorcycle to school to deliver a baby quilt for one of the teachers who recently became a grandmother. John's sister made the quilt for John to give as a gift.

�John Conway is one of 4000 Trucker Buddy drivers who share their experiences on the road with an elementary class,� said Ellen Voie, Trucker Buddy¹s
Executive Director, �these drivers take the time to show their classes that they care by sending a post card or letter a few times each month.� There is an immediate need for more drivers like John to adopt one of the classes still waiting for Trucker Buddy drivers of their own.
