SMX names Carlson June Driver of the Month

(September 6, 2006) Fort Dodge, IA – Gary Carlson of Blue Earth, Minn., has been named June Driver of the Month by Smithway Motor Xpress (SMX) for his excellent service. Carlson, a flatbed owner operator, has been with SMX since December of 1982.

With nearly 40 years of driving experience to his credit, Carlson has carried many loads but one still stands out in his mind. “I remember getting stuck in snowstorm in Ames, Iowa for four days once,” he said. “There I was with a load of milk cows and snow as far as you could see. None of us were too happy.”

Off the road, Dawson enjoys listening to golden oldies music, eating a good steak, and visiting antique truck shows. He says he also enjoys time with his wife Mary.
