CRST Malone Katrina Relief Efforts
CRST Malone has been assisting with the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts over the past few weeks. Sherry F. Bass, Vice President of Capacity Development at CRST Malone said, “ The decision to help the victims of Katrina was an easy one. In a situation like this you just start helping as soon as possible and use the resources you have to make it happen. It only took a little time before we had people asking how they could help.”
CRST Malone and its agents began working with FEMA and their customer base to stage supplies and aid at a nearby terminal facility in Louisiana. One of CRST Malone’s local agents near New Orleans provided his 6-acre yard to stage and warehouse a variety of materials that are needed in the relief effort. In addition, Malone donated several refrigerated trailers to move ice for the relief effort.
Additionally a small group of contractors from CRST Malone, Gary Aud, Dickie Howard, John Skimehorn, Jr. and Danny Skimehorn helped with the Katrina relief efforts by organizing collections from the state of Kentucky. They worked for 2 days collecting food, water, clothing, toys and other items. There was a great response from the local residents with a non-stop line donating items for the relief effort. The drivers left Sunday and delivered their loads in Jackson, MS.
Mike Gannon President of CRST Malone goes on to say, “Many of Malone’s Independent Contractors have already helped, and we know that there will be many more of our people who will continue the outreach to bring relief. “
CRST Malone is also offering employment opportunities for qualified CDL-A drivers and dispatchers.
Bass said, “ I am so proud of CRST Malone and our contractors and agents for stepping up and contributing to the relief efforts in the Gulf States. This just goes to show you that at CRST Malone we are a family. At CRST Malone, You Don’t Just Drive…You belong. “
