Forward Air has another acquisition; seeks owner operators for record freight levels
(Columbus, Ohio) August 2, 2005 – With its recent acquisition, Forward Air is experiencing record high levels of freight and record breaking profit and revenue.
“This is a very exciting time for us,” says Doug McElhaney, Director of Recruiting. “With this acquisition, we have lots of freight on both coasts and are just looking for more owner operators to move it.”
McElhaney says the company has opened a new terminal in Harrisburg, Penn., to add to its already comprehensive network of surface transportation for deferred airfreight. “We have 81 terminals situated near every major U.S. airport,” he says. “Our owner operators carry approximately 20,000 to 25,000 pounds in freight per load when the industry average is closer to 40,000 pounds. That translates into less wear and tear on their trucks.”
The company is now seeking owner operator teams who want high miles and high earning potential. Forward Air offers 5,800 to 6,200 miles per week. "Most of our runs are dedicated fixed turns with scheduled arrival and release times," says McElhaney.
A typical shipment consists of a pallet load of high value freight, often computers, telecommunications equipment and other high-technology equipment, trade show exhibit materials and machine parts or apparel. In addition, most pickups and deliveries are made at Forward Air or agent operated facilities, which eliminates waiting time and customer coordination.
Forward Air has been named as one of the "200 Best Small Companies in America," for six consecutive years by Forbes Magazine. “We just continue to grow and gain new customers which means we continue to have a need for professional, safe, dedicated owner operators,” says McElhaney. “There’s no better place for an owner operator to find success than Forward Air.”
