Tango Transport Opens Hurricane Relief Donation Drop Offs across Louisiana

SHREVEPORT - Continuing its mission of community outreach, Tango Transport is lending its support to victims of Hurricane Katrina by donating trailers to collect supplies to be sent to the Salvation Army in south Louisiana in various collection posts across the state.

In partnership with area businesses and civic organizations, donations are being collected from communities and Tango Transport will deliver them as instructed by the Salvation Army.

“We've all seen the heartbreaking images of destruction and loss caused by Hurricane Katrina,” Tango Transport Chief Operating Officer Robert Gorman said. “While we are so far away from the devastation, there is still something we can do to help those in need.”

Tango Transport is also initiating programs to aid their drivers who live in areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina. “Some people have lost everything and we’ve said that joining Tango is being part of a team,” Joe Gabbard, director of recruiting said. “When a teammate is in need, you do what it takes to help.”

Tango Transport employs more than 700 drivers across the country, serving all 48 contiguous states and Canada. With the support of its dedicated drivers and staff, Tango Transport has grown in 14 years from an operation of two trucks and two trailers into one of the largest trucking companies in the southern United States, serving businesses such as General Motors Corp., FedEx, Peterbilt, Neiman-Marcus and International Paper.
