AT KOCH TRUCKING, IT’S AS GOOD AS IT GETS…
SAFETY AWARDS, MORE & NEWER EQUIPMENT, TOP-NOTCH FLEET CONDITION, AND OPEN COMMUNICATION WITH DRIVERS.
Koch Trucking is pleased to announce that at the Safety Award Luncheon at the Minnesota Trucking Association Annual Conference held in Alexandria, MN July 28-30, we received the award for most improved safety record for 2004-2005. This award is presented to the member company or companies who either have had the most improved safety record in the past year or lower than average crash records.
“Koch Trucking appreciates the fact that our people have made this award possible. Our drivers, staff and management have worked very hard to investigate the root causes of crash involvement, identify those issues and develop training, policies and procedures to correct them. Our people are the driving force behind our achievements. “This award and of course our are the result of a lot of hard work on a lot of people’s part to bring our company around” said John Hiscox CDS, Director of Safety for Koch Companies, who accepted the award on behalf of the Koch drivers, contractors and employees. Mr. Hiscox was also awarded the 2005 “Herb Ney Memorial Award” by the MTA Safety Council.
“Koch has also now converted all of their company owned tractors to 2005 and 2006 Volvo model 670. They have too just purchased 600 new trailers. “Newer equipment not only means less mechanical issues, and down time but better driver comfort and less fatigue related problems. Koch’s maintenance department keeps our fleet in top notch condition. When a driver encounters an emergency situation they have to be able to depend on their equipment to work as designed to be able to avoid potential crash situations, so the tractors and trailers must be in top shape,” says Koch’s Director of Maintenance, Todd Wright.
“The open communication we share with our driving staff really keeps our planners and fleet managers current and in touch with any driver issues that may effect their safety. Let’s face it drivers get ill, weather and fatigue can always an issue. Our operations staff and our drivers have to stay on top of these and other issues. We work with our drivers and contractors in situations where these factors come up, so we can keep our drivers safe,” states Mark Davis, Director of Operations.
John Hiscox says, “Our Motto is “Make the Safe Decision.” Yes, it’s that simple and yes it’s that complicated. Everyone has to get behind the program and do all they can in their area to be a success. This award is a great encouragement for our entire company. Next year we want to bring home the MTA Grand Trophy Award for safety.
