Gilmore named Bolt Express Driver of the Month

July 11, 2006, (Toledo, Ohio) – Leon Gilmore, a cargo van owner operator from Warner Robbins, Ga., was recently named the July Driver of the Month at Bolt Express, an expedite carrier based in Toledo.

Gilmore, who joined Bolt last year, was honored because of his excellent customer service and positive outlook. “I love working; I keep the wheels of my van turning as much as possible,” he says. “I go wherever they send me and carry whatever will fit on this van.”
According to Gilmore, one load in particular stands out in his mind. “I drove 100 or so miles deadhead to pick up a load. When I arrived, the customer asked me to come in to sign some papers. I asked where I should back up to get the freight and he handed me two tiny matchbox-size boxes and said ‘here it is!’” Gilmore says. “I laughed and said, ‘You sure you don’t need the forklift for these?’ Those were pretty important matchboxes!”

A retired Army serviceman, Gilmore has one son serving now in Iraq. He also has another grown son and daughter.
Bolt Express provides a 24-hour, seven days a week, dock-to-dock, exclusive use transportation service for rush-critical shipments throughout the 48 states and Ontario, Canada.
