Celadon Achieves Highway Watch® Training Milestone

INDIANAPOLIS – Celadon Trucking Services (Nasdaq: CLDN) today announced that it has trained 100 percent of its drivers in the Highway Watch® program. The truckload carrier is only the second among the industry’s top 100 trucking companies to reach the milestone.

Highway Watch is a national safety and security program that utilizes the skills, experience, and “road smarts” of America’s transportation workers to help prevent terrorists from using large vehicles or hazardous cargoes as weapons and to protect America’s critical highway transportation infrastructure. The program is administered by American Trucking Associations (ATA) under an agreement with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

“We feel very strongly about our responsibility as a truckload carrier to do our part for homeland security,” said Celadon Chairman and CEO Steve Russell. “Our participation in the program is an important step in making our company and our country more safe and secure.”

Russell, who serves as chairman of the ATA’s Homeland Security Policy Committee, has testified before Congress in regards to issues surrounding the transportation of hazardous materials. He has also been featured in Highway Watch’s “Be a Leader” industry awareness campaign which encourages more   trucking companies to participate in the program.
