Werner Driver Donates Million-Mile Truck to Werner Museum
OMAHA, NE – Werner Enterprises, Inc. (Nasdaq: WERN-news), one of the nation’s largest truckload transportation trucking companies, received an extraordinary donation to the Company’s museum. Werner Owner Operator, Rich Marten, donated the Freightliner he purchased from the Company in 1993.
Marten is the first Werner driver to drive over one million miles on a single truck. His speedometer has logged 1,646,870 miles over his tenure. His achievement is a milestone for Werner Enterprises as well as a personal success for Marten.
“I am so proud that my truck will be a part of the Werner museum,” said Marten. “I have always been treated with respect here, and it is an honor to be a part of this Company’s history.”
Fifty years of Werner history is documented in the Company museum, which opened in 1995. It captures the essence of Werner's nostalgic past and features the evolution of the trucking industry through the years.
The museum later captured the attention of the world-renowned Smithsonian Museum. In 2002, the Smithsonian asked Werner Enterprises to be a part of an exhibition entitled America on the Move. Werner contributed a 1984 Peterbilt 359 model tractor and flatbed trailer, among other trucking-related items. This particular artifact became a part of the Smithsonian's permanent exhibition which opened in 2003.
