Petro Celebrates 30th Anniversary

Gives Free Birthday Cake to Customers

April 22, 2005 -- EL PASO, TEXAS — Petro Stopping Centers, L.P. celebrated its 30th Anniversary today by handing out free Iron Skillet birthday cake to customers at all of its locations and is also awarding 30 lucky fueling customers with thirty thousand bonus Petro Passport points during April.

Petro Stopping Centers was founded with the opening of its El Paso, Texas location on I-10 on April 22, 1975. That truckstop was one of the first in the nation to offer self-serve diesel fuel and gold bond trading stamps, the truckstop industry's first frequent fueler program. 30 years later, the El Paso location remains one of the company's busiest, and is a favorite stopping point for drivers along I-10 which runs from Jacksonville, Florida all the way to Los Angeles, California.

"Petro was started in 1975 because no one was really focused on the needs of the professional truck driver. I knew that if we built a quality facility, kept it clean, and treated the drivers with the respect, we would have plenty of business and create a unique niche in our market," said Jack Cardwell, Petro's Founder and CEO, at a National Managers Meeting held last week in Nashville, TN.
