National Carriers Awards Big Screen HDTV in Referral Payoff

Dallas, Texas – National Carriers recently awarded one if its drivers a Panasonic 61” Big Screen HDTV as a pay off in the company’s latest referral contest, held February 1 through March 31.

Ed Edens, of Daleville, Ala., was the lucky winner of the oversized television. “I’m currently building a new house near San Antonio and this will make a nice addition to the new home,” Edens said, excited about his big win. Edens has been with the company for only three months and is currently signed on with National Carriers’ lease purchase program.

Edens, who has been driving professionally for 21 years, was looking for respect when he came to National Carriers. “I was looking for a company that appreciates its drivers and gives recognition where recognition is due. I just want a place where I can retire and be appreciated without just being a number,” he says. 

Steve Zolner, Recruiting Director, believes this referral contest was a hit. “Our usual referral program only rewards drivers if their referrals are actually hired. With these contests, drivers can still be rewarded for their efforts, even if the referral is not hired. It’s important that they know we appreciate them trying to help us recruit more drivers,” says Zolner. Zolner reported that they gained a 30 to 40 percent increase in referrals during the same amount of time with this contest.

Edens also gives much credit to his recruiter, Donna and his dispatcher, Mary. “Donna really helped me through the process of getting hired on here and got me on track. Mary has also been a huge part in keeping me here. They’ve been great, and without them, I wouldn’t be here and wouldn’t have even been given the chance to win such a great prize,” says Edens.
