419 contractors in exclusive clubs Dart issues 3-Million Mile awards

Twenty-seven independent owner operators entered Dart Transit's most exclusive clubs in March for driving to a higher safety standard. The Safety Department at Dart's Minneapolis Operating Center announced the latest groups of contractors to be awarded One, Two, and Three-Million Mile accident-free safety awards.

Three Million Mile Club awards

Four contractors achieved three million mile accident-free safety status: Elvin Guyer Jr of Forest City, MO, Jim Lyle of Laporte, MN, Dale Schultz of Capac, MI, and Tom Tyler Sr. of Dallas, IA. "Non-professional drivers can't even imagine such a distance, much less driving that far without an accident," said Dart safety advisor Steve Kaufman. "Professional drivers know that completing three million accident-free miles is one of the most elusive achievements on the highway. Consider that these gentlemen have driven in all kinds of traffic, in all kinds of weather, in all parts of the country. They are performing at a world class level. We are blessed to have these skilled professionals contract their equipment with Dart." A total of 13 of Dart's independent contractors have received three million mile awards.

Two Million Mile Club awards

Nine Dart contractors reached two million accident-free miles with Dart in 2001: Peter Abfall, Leon Addison, Gary Boron, Keith DeHaven, Mike Gibson, Steven Hoeft, David McCammond, Walt Newcomb, and John Vince. Their entry into the Two Million Mile Club brings to 59 the number of Dart contractors with this award.

One Million Mile Club awards

Fourteen Dart contractors reached one million accident-free miles in 2001: Jim Addison, Al Beck, George Bailey, Gary Bowes, Dan George, Alonzo Haskett, Robert Haskett, David King, Richard Magers II, Tim Martin, Sam Michel, Harry Shaw, Jesse Shaw, and Mike Sieling. They bring the total number of Dart contractors reaching one million or more accident-free miles to 419.
