Little Rock, Ark. (March 24, 2006) -- Continental Express driver
Fred Martin of Livingston, Tx., has reached 1.7 million safe
driving miles and hopes to reach two million miles over the next
few years.
With more than 20 years of professional driving experience, Martin
has spent the last 14 years at Continental. “It been very
good for me. I like to stay in one place – not do a lot of
job hopping,” he says. “Continental gets me good miles,
home when I want to be and treat me well.”
Martin credits his years of safe driving to his good attitude. “Being in a bad mood and hurrying makes a person make mistakes. When I have a good attitude, I stay aware of my surroundings and I avoid mistakes. My faith in God helps me to keep the right attitude,” says Martin.
Off the road, Martin spends time catching up on chores around the house and enjoys riding his Honda Shadow motorcycle. “I guess that was my mid-life crisis purchase,” he says. “It was either that or trade in my wife, Sharon, for a younger chick. She’s glad I got the motorcycle!”
To recognize Martin’s accomplishment, the company awarded
him $1,000 in cash, a certificate and a medallion.
