Owner-Operator James Snell Named FFE 2001 Contractor of the Year

After ten years with FFE Transportation as a company driver and owner-operator, James Snell of Prescott, Arkansas was named the company's 2001 Contractor of the Year recently at a company awards meeting in Dallas, Texas.

Snell started out with FFE as a company driver ten years ago and quickly joined the company's Purchase Plus Program in order to take advantage of the opportunities FFE offers to drivers intereste in owning their own truck. Now an owner-operator for the company, Snell is being honored as a leader in the fleet.

“James is a fine example of why we do what we do,” said Brian Etchison Director of FFE Owner Operator Division. “This is why we invest in our drivers – and programs such as Clean Slate Lease and Purchase Plus Program provide opportunities for drivers to succeed as profitable contractors.”

Averaging around $1.17 a mile for 2001, Snell reported no accidents, no claims, no traffic violations and he holds a perfect customer service record of on-time delivery. With a record like this, being named Contractor of the Year might come as no surprise, but Snell was astounded by the news.

“I was totally surprised when I found out I was named 2001 Contractor of the Year,” said Snell. “I want to thank the dispatchers and owner-operator coordinators for their support in keeping me successful.”

With the programs offered to trucking owner-operators and drivers interested in becoming contractors, FFE provides an avenue of success and accelerated ownership for drivers. With programs like Clean Slate Lease and Purchase Plus Program, drivers are given a detailed business plan to help them succeed, and in two years or less they have ownership over their trucks.

This year FFE will have 49 contractors that will own their own trucks after participating in one of the programs offered by the company. With no credit checks and the support provided to be successful, drivers can become successful contractors with FFE in a matter of two years. Contractors like Snell prove the program works and trucking owner-operators can reap the benefits of contracting with an industry leader.

“Here at FFE they are good people to work for,” said Snell. “They treat you right and honest and I've never had any problems.”

Along with Snell, Contractor Michael Jordan was also honored by the company as the Rookie of the Year. Averaging $1.04 a mile in 2001, Jordan has logged around 104,000 miles since April and he follows the detailed business plan and enjoys outstanding paychecks for his efforts.
