Western Express Dispatcher Stays On the Line for Three Hours

A call came into the Western Express dispatch office on February 13; a driver was in distress. Willie Frye, a veteran extended coverage driver manager, answered and learned that a new driver from Georgia was in New York City for the first time. The driver was lost in Brooklyn. Frye stayed on the line for three hours, guiding the driver around the city.

“Few would have gone to the lengths that Frye did to ensure that a driver was calm and out of danger,” said Director of Recruiting Matt Neal. “He is a model of professionalism who treats every driver with respect.

“He is our shining star. I wish we had more people as dedicated as Willie.”

Frye’s supervisor, Atmore, Alabama Terminal Manager Wayne Jensen, added, “He is an outstanding individual who thinks of others before himself.”

Frye has been with Western Express for 26 years in a variety of positions, including sales, orientation and driver liaison officer. He has one daughter, who lives in South Carolina, and is an avid golfer.
