Three Continental Express Inc. (CEI) drivers were the first to
complete the company’s lease operator program by paying $1 to
Continental President Ralph Bradbury. The two-year lease program
gives drivers an excellent way to begin a new chapter in their
careers as owner operators.
Karlton Jordain of Detroit, Mich., who joined CEI as a company
driver, enjoyed the atmosphere so much he decided to take the step
toward truck ownership. “I was treated well from the
beginning,” he says. “The staff at CEI is excellent so
when I heard about the lease operator program, saw how reasonable
it was; I decided that was a commitment I wanted to
make.”
Thomas Everage, of Hot Springs, Ark., agrees. “I’d
always been a company driver but leasing with CEI was a great
move,” Everage says. “My dispatcher is great. The first
question I was asked was about where I preferred to run. They
really want to accommodate their operators.”
For Gerodney Cabine, the decision to lease with CEI came down to
dollars and cents. “They didn’t require a big balloon
payment at the end of the lease,” he says. “That made
it very attractive and attainable for me. Plus, I really enjoy the
people here and the good freight.”
