Young Owner Operator Finds What He Needs at FFE

Accomplishing your dreams is a sweet success. However, seeing them come to life earlier than expected is even sweeter. Owner operator Willie May knows just how great success at a young age can be, thanks to the opportunities given to him at FFE.

May sought out a career in trucking for the freedom and independence. May began the FFE Clean Slate Lease program at just 24 years of age. He paid off his lease in less than two years and is the proud owner of his own truck.

“I never dreamed I could do it!” he said.

The friendly environment and good money at FFE are two top benefits that enabled him to see his dreams come true, Mays says. He also credits his supportive family, who told him he can do anything he puts his mind to.

Away from the road, Mays enjoys sightseeing while driving in his Mustang and Corvette. He also loves singing; R&B is his favorite type of music. He confesses that singing in his truck has helped him get down many long stretches of road.

The FFE Clean Slate Lease program offers drivers just like Willie the opportunity to own a truck with no money down and the added benefit of a business support system. Credit isn’t an issue as long as drivers have a clean DAC and MVR. New drivers to the company can also enjoy a soft landing by taking advantage of FFE’s Fresh Start Program. In this program, drivers are eligible for a waiver of certain fixed costs during their first four weeks and a $150.00 fuel credit for the first two weeks. Even better, successful lease contractors are rewarded with the option of purchasing a new truck complete with an APU.

Currently celebrating its 60th year, FFE is seeking company drivers and owner operators who have a good work ethic and like to earn good money. Owner operators average $1.11 per mile and receive an annual incentive at the end of their first year. Plus FFE has just introduced a new mileage contract that gives owner operators the best of both worlds at .93 cpm for truckload shipments and an even higher rate for hauling those special FFE LTL shipments. It just can’t get any better!

Rufus Akers Finds the Job for Him at FFE

Rufus Akers is a man who has worn many hats over the years. He worked as an air cargo specialist in the Air Force, made a career in computer software, was a carnival ride jockey, a plumber and a welder. Today he’s doing something he always wanted to do but didn’t have the chance. Akers is an owner operator with FFE’s Clean Slate Lease Program. Soon, he’ll be turning the key to a brand-new 2007 Freightliner Century Class with an APU. “This truck will be all mine,” he says proudly.

Akers says he is pleased that he stayed committed to the lease program, especially with fuel prices going up. With all of the rewards that he has received in the lease program, Akers is convinced he has found best career for him.

“I’m a business person now,” he said. “This isn’t just a job and I’m learning a lot about business and how to be successful at FFE.”

One of the best things about FFE, Akers says, is the support.

“There is always someone to talk to about problems, whatever they may be.”

The best advice for those considering a lease program, Akers says, is to work out the numbers first and to build a reserve that will allow you to have extra money in case of maintenance or extra expenses. Although he is concentrating on running his business right now, Akers, a resident of Los Angeles, does pause now and then to enjoy relaxing on Venice Beach.
