John Christner Trucking Receives Top Safety Honor from TCA
Sapulpa, OK – John Christner Trucking was presented this month with 1st place honors at the Truckload Carriers Association’s prestigious 2004 National Fleet Safety Awards. The Oklahoma-based carrier received top honors in the Division 5 category, which recognizes companies logging 50-99 million miles. There are many things that factor into determining who wins this award but it is primarily based on the accident frequency per million miles driven.
“We are proud of our drivers and our company. Our investment in safety and diligent efforts have paid off and have enabled us to hire only the safest, most professional drivers in the industry.” Commented Daniel Christner, Chief Operating Officer. The award is given to carriers who reach the highest level of safety measures, as determined by the TCA.
Discussing the practices that John Christner employs to help
drivers adhere to the high standards at the company, Bill Wilson,
VP of Safety & Risk Management at JCT adds, “In many
ways, this award shows how thorough our training is, and how we
prepare drivers for obstacles they will face on the road.”
Wilson also noted that drivers at John Christner are constantly
reminded of the positive impact high safety standards have on the
lives of drivers, the lives of others on the road, and the
reputation of the entire industry.
From the division winners two grand prize winners will be selected,
one in the under 25 million mile category and one in the over 25
million mile category. To win the grand prize, trucking
companies will be judged on their overall safety programs, both
on and off-highway including employee driver/independent contractor
selection procedures, training, supervision, accident
investigation, inspection and maintenance of equipment, and outside
activities including general highway safety. The two grand prize
winning companies will be announced on March 8 at the TCA annual
convention at the Bellagio Resort in Las Vegas.
