MONDOVI, WI:  Marten Transport, Ltd. Employees collected over $2,500 cash and personal items that were sent to soldiers serving their country, both overseas and stateside. These service men and women each have a family connection with a Marten Employee.

The 35 overseas soldiers received gift boxes and about 48 stateside received a Christmas card stuffed with two 100-minute phone cards.

The overseas packages were prepared for shipping at 10:00 a.m., December 18 th . This was a happy and exciting time! WEAU TV 13 (NBC) and WQOW TV 18 (ABC) of Eau Claire visited Marten Transport, Ltd. to film this wonderful event. A representative of the Mondovi Herald Newspaper was also in attendance.

This is part of Marten's annual "Giving Tree" through which they adopt needy families for Christmas and shower them with Christmas Blessings (gifts, food and gas cards). This year it was decided to include the brave men and women in uniform that are sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, as well as nieces and nephews of their employees.

One soldier in particular had a touching request to send nothing for her, but instead to "please send school supplies for the children in Iraq" and so they did!
