Santa In A Suit Lands Smiles For 440 th Air Wing

Franklin, WI – December 18 th , 2003

Military conflicts are never easy, and our presence in Iraq is especially taxing this time of year. Not only is it hard on the soldiers serving active duty overseas in the name of freedom, it is especially hard on those family members left behind. To many, activation in a Reserve or Guard unit means more than just putting on a helmet, it means leaving your civilian job and paycheck for a long period of time. Christmas is the season of giving and to many military families; right now it is the season of just getting by. But, for the 440 th Air Wing in Milwaukee Wisconsin, it also meant a visit from the Santa in a suit. Michael Page, Director of Recruiting for JDC Logistics in Franklin, WI wanted to make a difference in the lives of those touched by our fight for freedom. Page began raising funds in an effort to try to send care packages to our soldiers overseas.

When faced with mounds of red tape, piles of forms and limited shipping space, Page turned his focus closer to home, his sights landed on the 440 th . On December 17 th , Page and several members of the 440 th entered the Wal-Mart in Franklin, WI with one mission, to bring Christmas to the children of those service members serving abroad. Page, referred to on TV 6 News, as “The Santa In A Suit” was successful in raising enough money to purchase 226 Christmas presents, enough for all the children of the 440 th . When asked how he felt about doing this, Page simply said “ Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night”!!!

Page, a life long resident of Twin Lakes, WI works as the Director of Recruiting for JDC Logistics and Stars Expedited Delivery in Franklin, WI. JDC employs over 1000 Company Drivers and Owner Operators .
