Questions for Recruiter, how do you make money on us drivers?
I guess this could be for recruiters or those that know about recruiting . Mostly I'm just curious and would like to hear how it may be. Are most recruiters on salary, hourly pay,or paid by the recruiter? I'm sure its different at various trucking companies, but what seems to be the norm,or is the pay possibly based on a combination of the above, with possible bonuses for the more people you get in trucks? I know that at one company I worked for years ago, their recruiter got $500 for every driver...more

One hell of a mess, getting over a DUI conviction in trucking:
I'm new here and looking for advice and a little straight shooting. In 1989 I was convicted on a DUI. A couple weeks ago I graduated from a Truck Driving school. On the day of my graduation I returned home to find 2 letters in the mail from the Illinois Secretary of State. One Revoking my license and the other suspending it do to the revocation. After the DUI conviction I moved to California with the permission of the state of Illinois. Everything was lost in the shuffle and bureaucracy of Los Angeles, they weren't looking for me and I certainly wasn't looking for them. more

Hey recruiters, does your trucking company charge fees or escrow on accounts?
Ok recruiters,I'm sure none of you here will take the time to tell me if you do have these things, but those of you who don't drivers might be interested. I know for a fact a few of the companies advertising on this forum use escrow accounts or charge drivers(company) fees for various reasons. Perhaps your company does,so maybe you'd like to explain the companies policy you represent......I'm listening,no matter how much I find the practice wrong....but speak up. more

I need advice from a recruiter or an owner operator; will a back injury keep me unemployable?
I was sent home from a trucking school today. I informed them of a back injury I had years ago, I was honest about the whole thing. They told me before I got there that it would not count on their decision as to hiring mr or not. I passed the DOT physical, Drug tests, and their written tests. I have a spotless MVR. Today at lunch break they told me I was un-hirable.more

Testing positive for marijuana, can I still drive a truck or is my driving career lost?
Dear sir: 08/29/05 I tested positive for marijuana while applying for a new driving job and was told to attend substance abuse through DOT for a hefty fee. If I do what is requested will anyone hire me? Or is my career over? more

Will I ever be forgiven? I have 2 past felonies, what trucking company will hire me?
I have a question. I will be graduating from T.D. school in October. Thanks to everyone, I have found out what a DAC report is and sent for my free copy. Will I ever get a job in this industry with 2 drug felonies ( one from 1992, and one from 1996.)? I have been drug free since 2005, and had my felonies expunged in 2003. I am currently on unsupervised probation more

School Graduate / Some Experience / No One Will Hire? What trucking companies hire new driving school graduates right out of school?
It strikes me as odd...I graduated from MTA Driving School, have (3) months OTR experience...I did all of this after being placed on lay off in the construction industry...a position came available in construction, which I had interviewed for prior to starting trucking. more
