Why I despise the trucking industry in General

Could it be the lack of driver courtesy on the highway as well as in the truckstops. It seems the longer I stay in the industry, the more frustrated I get with the lack of looking out for one another. What happened to the brotherhood that should be out here? Everyone is in such a hurry, in today's society, that we cannot even stop for a few seconds, to take a breath of fresh air? Is the world going to stop if the drivers start sticking together? Probably not, but it may, suprisingly became a better place to work, if we would just all work together to help on another, instead of looking for ways to cheat the industry. Look at a speed limit sign sometime, it's not out there for decoration, just like a directional signal on a vehicle. Let us all start paying more attention to our jobs and the safety that we are to provide for the general public, as professional drivers. Slow down and save a life, there is no load of freight worth losing your life as well as an inocent bystanders' life. Mr. or Miss Truck driver, the next time you ride the bumper of a four wheeler or even the ICC bar of a big truck, think about your family as well as what you mean to them. You mean nothing to anyone that you love, if you are dead, or if they are killed by a fellow driver. SLOW DOWN AND OBSERVE THE POSTED SIGNS, WHETHER IT BE A SPEED LIMIT SIGN, WHITE OR YELLOW, A STOP, OR A YEILD SIGN, THEY ALL HAVE MEANING , AND COULD SAVE A LIFE!
It's all about trucking

Hmmm... While those are some valid problems, I wouldn't really blame the "industry" for them.
I despise the industry for numerous reasons, like the fact that we are one of the few industries that gets away with not paying a minimum wage, or overtime; drivers are held responsible for problems on the trucks that companies refuse to fix; we are told how long, far and fast we can run, which effectively dictates what our salarys will be; not being fairly compensated for ALL the hours we work; we are stopped for absolutely no reason (which is and should be unconstitutional); a system where any company that wants to can effectively blackball you (namely DAC); and last but not least (for now), the DOT (state and federal) that is absolutely useless unless it comes to harrassing drivers.
These are just a few of the industry problems that I can think of off the top of my head at the moment, I'm sure I can come up with more! 8)
