TRYING TO GET BACK IN

Postby bigrig3 on Wed Feb 25, 2009 2:04 pm

I need some help...I'm looking for a company who's willing to hire me after beening away from trucking for 6 years.
Back in 2000, I went to driving school and then drove OTR for Trans Am Trucking for 18 months. After that, I went back home to drive for Pepsi for about 6 months.
Here's what I'm having a problem with...CREngland will hire me, but I would have to go on the road for 90 days with a trainer! To me, that's an awful long time to live in a truck with another guy and I know for a fact that I don't need that much training.
Does anyone know of a company who's re-training time isn't so long and is willing to get me back in the driver's seat?
Thanks alot!!!

You could look into a local driving school refresher course, many will accept it.

Stay away from CRE. You might try maverick. They are hit and miss on hiring right now. They do not require a refresher or even a school if you have a current CDL. You would have to go through their flatbed securement class tho. Paid 4 days 500 bucks and go out with a trainer for a couple weeks. You can shoot me a PM if you want more info. I have been with them a couple years and I like them.

Maverick's cutting back too, I've never seen the industry like this and I haven't seen anything promising anytime soon...

Maverick is hiring, but they are only taking a few each week. They are only taking exp drivers now tho.

I too am trying to get back in and am willing to go through all the training again. Personally, I really think its a good idea anyway, just to 'refreesh'. Anything over 3 years its probably a good suggestion.
