Bad idea if you want to make it in trucking. Good idea if you want to quit broke and not want to stay in trucking long.

If you get going with that I would like to known how things go about. How the school is? And if it is worth it?

TO ALL INQUIRING MINDS: THE BEST TRUCK DRIVING SCHOOL TO ATTEND IS THE ONE SPONSORED AND RUN BY THE PINALLIS COUNTY SCHOOLS IN ST.PETE, FL.! IT IS LOCATED AT THE PINALLIS COUNTY VOCATIONAL-TECHNICAL SCHOOL (EASY TO GET TO OFF I-275)IT IS 11.5 WEEKS OF CLASSROOM, RANGE AND INNER VITY ST.PETE/TAMPA,FL TRAFFIC! THAT WILL SET YOU UP TO RUN IN ANY URBAN AREA, OR SCARE YOU BACK TO MICKY-D'S OR WALLY WORLD! BUT WAIT THATS NOT ALL IT ALSO HAS A COMPUTER-LINKED TRAINER IN THE CLASSROOM WHICH GIVES YOU 8 TO 20 HOURS OF DRIVING PRACTICE B4 YOU EVEN TOUCH A REAL TRUCK! DOCKING, LEFT/RIGHT SIDE, ANGLE DOCKING ALL SIMULATED! BUT WITH MINITURE TRUCKS IN ANOTHER ROOM WITH TELIVISED FEED BACK TO THE CAB-OVER UNIT YOU ARE IN. FINALLY THE INSTRUCTORS: JACK PEAL AND HIS ASSOCIATES ARE AMONG THE MOST KNOWLEDGABLE AND PATIENT INSTRUCTORS I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS. IF YOU CANT GET IT HERE YOU SHOULDN'T BE ON THE ROAD! Why do you say this? I was looking at them shortly after getting my CDL, but I hadn't heard much about them.

Right now, if you get the option take that option - there the best bet until freight picks up. Too many drivers are just trying to get "some" miles, and CR has them for drivers... we have a hard 14 months ahead and then things will pick up..

The reason I say that is check out their history. They have been one of the ones that have always preyed on the driver that has little or no knowledge of them. They have a reputation for getting you in a lease and stringing you along and making money off you when you go belly up with them. They put you in a lease, then when you can't make it they make you a trainer and run the truck like a team paying very little to both drivers, when they trickle you down to nothing they cash in on you when you turn in the lease then they tag you with a bunch of other charges. Save yourself the grief and just get a head start on standing in the soup line....

I talked to a student of England. He told me about a "student" who already had his CDL. Seems the student was driving with a trainer and another student along. Blew into a 25mph off ramp at 65 and nearly wrecked them all. The "student" in question PASSED the school. If I was a trainer and someone did this kind of bone headed move..they would NOT pass. I saw a truck today on it's side with load dumped in a ditch because of this very kind of OOPS. Us drivers who can read the signs do not need those who cannot.
